7 Reasons Why People Are Not Commenting On Your Blog
Blog comments are like living water to a blog. They make a blog come alive. Enable interaction. It encourages the new blogger, and gives the seasoned blogger a reason to carry on.
But what if your blog is not getting any comments or you believe you’re getting too little. Here are 7 things to watch out for and perhaps correct
- Nowhere to comment. This should be obvious you have no comments because people can’t comment
- You’re not asking anyone to comment. Strange as it might seem, actually asking people to comment at the end of our posts increases the likelihood that they will actually comment.
- Your post is absolutely perfect. This might seen weird, but sometimes a post is just so great that everything is answered. You’re readers don’t know what to say. Always leave room for thought, or reply. Don’t try and cover everything in your post.
- Your niche is too small. There are very little comments because there are too few readers. Remember only about 5% of your readers actually comment.
- Too many links on your blog. While I encourage linking within a post. Don’t overdo it. People might not be commenting on your blog because they are chasing all your links and references down.
- Posts are too long. Long posts are good They have meat on them, lots of information. But time is important. Don’t make your posts too long, readers might just be exhausted or bored by the end.
- You’re not engaging with your commentors. So in the past people have commented, but you have not replied to any or to very little so readers feel left out. There is no engagement with your audience. Why should they comment if you’re not bothered to read their comments. Reply to comments when you can and to as many as you can and to those that warrant a reply.
