The benefits of adopting an on-demand based service model are well documented and perhaps over-debated; we know that one of the key drivers to adopt is speed of deployment, which manifests itself in your business ultimately as change.
Driving and accelerating change is a key goal of many business and IT organisation heads; however, it is important to introduce this change wisely and in a considered way to ensure that gaps between capability and ability to execute do not appear. When these two factors are miss-aligned, not only are the key benefits of on-demand services lost, you add additional cost and complexity into your organisation.
With a plethora of services to now choose from, it is more important than ever to ensure that use of IT is a key strategic component in your organisation utilised to give you capability and competitive edge. This means understanding the pace of change that is required to achieve your strategic aims and using IT services , whether in-house or delivered on demand, as a series of enabling platforms and tools.
This places senior IT decision makers as trusted advisors to the business, with a real stake in overall business change.
