Jon, along with his business partner Jake Madders, founded Hyve Managed Hosting in 2001. Since then, in his role as Director, Jon has facilitated the growth of Hyve from a small start-up to a hugely successful company, with over 300 customers. In 2015, Hyve Managed Hosting moved from their original offices in Crawley to their new home in Brighton. Alongside other leaders at the company, Jon places a high priority on the culture at Hyve, and encourages a relaxed working environment in order to get the most from their employees – even investing in company jet skis to take advantage of their proximity to the Brighton coast line. Jon has worked in the IT sector for nearly 20 years, and before founding Hyve, worked as a Software Developer for companies such as Barclays, M&C Saatchi and Goldman Sachs.

Is High Availability Low Priority?

Some tech services – connectivity, communications, security, among others – fall firmly into the ‘high availability’ bracket. They need to be protected, preserved and ideally, work uninterrupted. Yet, as illustrated by the recent Microsoft Outlook service outage, even the biggest global providers experience problems.  So, is high availability a big enough priority? Are organisations taking the right steps to ensure key services remain up and running under extreme circumstances? It can mean different things to different organisations.
