Duncan Ellis is Systems Engineering Director with Ciena. Specialising in the extension of Data Centre Protocols over the Wide Area, he is responsible for providing specialist technical support for all networking-related activities for Channel Partners and Enterprise Customers throughout EMEA. Based in the UK but travelling extensively throughout EMEA, he has spent the last 6 years with Ciena. Prior to joining Ciena, Duncan worked for Hardware Planning Services (a specialist SAN Design company), Auspex (NAS Manufacturer), Bytes Technology Group (Systems Integrator), Data General (OEM) after serving with the Royal Navy for 14 years. He has more than 20 years experience in Electronics, IT and Storage arena, fulfilling roles such as Systems Administrator, Pan-European Programme Manager and Systems Engineer as well as Lecturing to both Under and Post Graduates at the Royal Naval Engineering College. He is a Member of the City and Guilds Institute, holds a MSc in Microwaves and Opto-Electronics from University College London, and a BEng(Hons) in Weapons Engineering from the Royal Naval Engineering College MANADON.
