Social Media, Brand Reputation And The iPad
January 29th, 2010, by Dave Baldwin
The world of social media has become hard to ignore. Social networking sites such as Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn provide a powerful and cost-effective means to get your message across and broaden your horizons. Used effectively they allow the user to build up a good reputation, access content, make new contacts and create excellent lead generation.
As this Computer Weekly article points out there can also be a downside to social media. Its democratic nature means that a company is unable to control what is said, and some people see this as a problem. Disheartening though it may seem, listening to and crucially, learning from, any negative comments surrounding your organisation, as well as positive, is important. As Mark Borkowski points out in his blog, problem solving and responding to opinion rather than brushing issues under the carpet can gain a lot of respect
Over in San Francisco this week, no one will have escaped the launch of the Apple iPad, which adds another interesting element to mobile computing. Whether it will revolutionise the gaming market or video streaming remains to be seen. It will be interesting to see how it affects business computing too.
