Recent Capgemini research shows that AI is already starting to transform how organisations do business, manage their customer relationships and motivate the ideas and creativity that fuel ground-breaking innovation. More importantly, however, and contrary to popular belief and scepticism, the majority of companies surveyed in the report revealed that AI has in ...

The concept of the public cloud has sparked a great deal of excitement and interest among IT executives. Many are improving business agility and achieving superior results with cloud services. This, in turn, drives further investment in cloud. Aside from the common expectations of agility and OpEx consumption pricing, some are drawn to the idea of expansive, highly centralised multi-cloud strategies. These executives envision managing multiple vendors with ease, orchestrating all processes efficiently and seamlessly moving workloads across different clouds. CEO Needs To Talk To CIO To Improve Processes. DOH! Wrong Person!

I have just read a very disturbing summary of a presentation the Gartner Symposium in Silicon.com. But is it symptomatic of the blinkered IT thinking that seem to surround the word ‘process’. Now I accept that the word process means something different to every person. In fact we have a concept of hats which is explained in a recent blog called What hat are you wearing? The Gartner presentation talked about “What CIOs need to know to get cosy with the CEO…Learn what’s worrying your chief exec – and what IT can do about it.” They identified 7 things which were all very valid. But I have issue with the advice for one area which we know very well. (A typical English understatement. Actually we are thought leaders.) The point I have a problem with, because the advice is misguided is CEOs: Seek...

The Forum of Private Business (FPB) is helping business owners to boost their prospects of securing finance via CreditPal, the free online accounts analysis system for SMEs. The move follows research carried out by the FPB, commissioned by CreditPal, showing that recession-hit small businesses are actively managing their cash flow yet struggling to access finance because they are not presenting their management accounts in the correct format to the finance and credit industry. The survey found that 96% of the SME respondents have improved their cash position through better controls rather than looking for outside financing. Pursuing late payers (76%) heads the list, with placing tighter controls on ordering supplies (67%) next, followed by internal cost-cutting exercises (67%) and then def...
