Having done a load of performance testing lately – raid1, raid5, raid10, raid01 (yes, there is a difference), it’s fascinating trying to wring the neck of a system to squeeze out the last drop of performance. I was intrigued with this latest article which gives a good description of the disk block architectures.
For those of you who have not bothered with sector alignment on your storage, it’s definitely worth doing it next time you setup afresh.
