WordPress have launched their latest version of their blog / content-management software — 3.3 – named “Sonny” and while the visual differences may be minimal, the functionality seems much improved.
Named in honour of jazz saxophonist Sonny Stitt, the latest version can be downloaded download or updated inside your WordPress dashboard – make sure you back up your database first, just in case.
WordPress has had over 65 million downloads since version 3.0 was released, and in this third major iteration we’ve added significant polish around the new user experience, navigation, uploading, and imports. For users the new drag-and-drop uploader, hover menus for the navigation, new toolbar and improved co-editing will be most welcomed. Meanwhile the Tumblr importer is an obvious attempt to be the choice of main hub whatever other social media you are into. iPad and other tablet users have also been considered with better touch support.
